Sometimes we joke about them ~
and sometimes they are a tool for the Lord.
Three squirrel experiences in the past three months!
Earlier this year Marlow was baptized in Owasso, OK. The Elders were teaching her the discussions again after her baptism. At first, her husband Johnny didn't have much to do with them. As Elder Mur______ & Elder Sha_______ did service for him he started to warm up. One day he admitted that he'd had the discussions earlier in his life. Then he warmed up a lot, and sat in on the discussions. One day when they were doing service, the elders knew they were supposed to ask him when he was going to be baptized. They did. He said, "When you catch me a squirrel." He then played them a song called "Squirrel Went to Church" by Ray Stevens. Taking the challenge, the Elders got some members to help them set squirrel traps. Not too long after that, they had a squirrel. They texted the wife and she was ecstatic! The Elders got a cage and set it and the squirrel on the front porch. The next time the Elders went to their home, there was the squirrel in the cage, the guest of honor in the living room. His baptism date is Nov. 7th.
I just received a text that Elder Rey_______ was at our home and was
trying to help get a squirrel out of our screened in porch.
He got bit by the squirrel on his thumb. Although I appreciate his help,
there are multiple other ways to accomplish the outcome desired.
I called in Augmentin 850mg bid x 14 days to prevent infection.
(Next time we consider cooking squirrel for dinner, we won't have the
missionaries catch their own food!)
