I woke up sick to my stomach, however I’m pretty sure it was just a case of the nerves. Today all the missionaries were coming in for a Zone Conference. We’d spent a lot of time trying to figure out what the Lord wanted to have happen. On the way home from the mission tour with Elder Foster, President said he’d been thinking about Zion. We read 4 Nephi and Moses 7 taking note of the blessings of a Zion-like society as well as the characteristics of a Zion-like society. The amazing thing about that was that same weekend, the assistants had experienced a Sunday lesson about a Zion-like society. Monday when we met they started talking about what they’d learned. Their second witness brought confirmation that the Lord wanted us as a mission to seek to be Zion-like.
We identified some characteristics that are part of the people of Zion. Humility – Obedience – Stewardship – and Doing the Father’s Will or connection with Diety. We prepared presentations, but more importantly we prepared some study material. As we study the Holy Ghost can come and teach us what we need to understand. As we prepared, I was reminded of how much President Benson talked about humility in his Pride talk.
We also had a Christmas program at the end of the day, which I thought turned out pretty well. Several missionaries performed. I enjoyed seeing the musical side of them that I don’t see that often. It was incredible.
Of course there are many pictures of the 2 hours of games. I find it ironic that so little of what we really did looks like so much on the blog. Another part of the day that I relished was watching missionaries enjoy each other. We brought a bus from Tulsa and a bus from Springfield since we thought it would be safer and less expensive than lots and lots of cars on the road. The excitement when those missionaries came off the bus was contagious. They truly were excited to see each other.
By the end of the day, I was tired – but the great kind of tired
